Radiesse® (formerly known as Radience®) is now FDA Approved for the correction of
moderate to severe facial folds and wrinkles around the nose and mouth,
including Nasolabial Folds. Radiesse® dermal filler is also FDA Approved for the
treatment of facial lipoatrophy, the significant
loss of fat underneath the skin, which can cause indentations, sunken cheeks
and hollow eyes. Radiesse® fills and volumizes to correct
the signs of facial fat loss and restore a natural, youthful look. As we age we lose the youthful look
of full cheeks and lips yet we seem to gain ever deepening wrinkles across
our foreheads or creases running from the outside of our noses to the corners
of our mouths. While there are treatments to help smooth out fine lines and
wrinkles, what can you do besides a facelift to get rid of deep creases
across the forehead or between the eyebrows? Radiesse® is perfect for filling out and smoothing
those deep facial creases and wrinkles and is particularly well suited for
long-lasting correction of deep naso-labial folds and
marionette lines. Radiesse® can also help add dimension to faces that have
lost volume. . What Is Radiesse®?Radiesse®
is an Injectable cosmetic dermal filler composed of of calcium hydroxyl apatite, or more simply put,
calcium-based spheres in a gel suspension. Radiesse does more than just fill
facial wrinkles and folds such as nasolabial folds.
The calcium-based microspheres both restore volume
and stimulate the growth of a patient’s own collagen to create fullness
and a youthful appearance with results that last a year or more.
How are treatments done? Radiesse treatments are very quick – often only
taking 15 minutes. Many patients schedule their appointments during a lunch
break or directly after work. There is no downtime, so they can get right
back to work. Radiesse is administered with a very fine needle in several
points along a treatment area. A topical anesthesia is sometimes used to
reduce discomfort. You will be able to see the results immediately. How does Radiesse® work? Most injectable fillers are slowly reabsorbed or metabolized by the body, which is why they require ongoing treatments. The calcium hydroxylapatite does not get reabsorbed by the body, which is why Radiesse lasts so much longer than other injectables. Radiesse is also hypoallergenic. There is no need for pre-testing for allergies. How many treatments are required?Generally, significant changes may be achieved with your first treatment. A touch-up may be required to achieve optimal results. Risks
and Complications
All cosmetic procedures come with some level of risk. The most common side effects are redness, bruising, or swelling. These side effects are usually mild and only last for a few days.
